Typing in Burmese Using Wait Zar on Windows

Introduction Hello everyone. I am writing a quick guide to using Wait Zar. That way, if someone asks you how they can type in Burmese, you can just point them to this article. The benefit to using Wait Zar for this is that the software is encoding-neutral, and it also supports many different Input Methods.

MediaWiki(Most used) localization 100% done!

I went to Bangkok last Thursday night for Myanmar Wikipedia Unconference. The 3 days workshop was a fun and a success. I will write a detailed post about workshop later. What I want to say here is that I translated all Mediawiki(Most Used) strings in 3 days. It was total around 500 strings and about 30% was roughly done before. So I tried to finish up the remaining and polished the existing translations. This effort made me the top contributor of translatewiki.net. The wiki geek, Gerard, who attended the unconference blogged about this.

Do We Need to Translate The Software Licenses?

When I was thinking to create the Project types in myanmarlanguage.org, I notice that we need to know the definitions of various types of licenses clearly. You can read some of the discussions in Planning For Project Types. There are a lot of licenses, such as GPL, BSD, MIT and many more.

Planning For Project Types

Dear All,

Currently I'm doing Project content type for the website.
This will include the following.

  1. Project Title
  2. Project Description
  3. Project Type (Translation, Localization, Font Creation, etc..)
  4. Team Members
  5. Project Detail
  6. Download (Sources, Fonts, Software etc)

All the Contributors can create their own Projects.

Please add more suggestions for this.

Thank you.

Font Issues

Font Drop Down

MyanmarLanguage.org now allows both Zawgyi-One and Unicode fonts (Myanmar3, Padauk) encodings. Please report any font related issue here. Thanks.
